Meet our Team
Karen Adamson
Owner, Administrator, Ballet, and Jazz Instructor
Karen discovered her love of dance when she was a little girl, and as the years passed she dedicated more time and energy to this beautiful art form. She met John Adamson while they were both pursuing their professional careers in classical ballet. Little did she know that God had a plan for their lives that would include a ballet school in Katy, Texas. Karen believes that this ballet school is her and John’s calling and ministry from God. Karen enjoys a wonderful rapport with teenaged girls and has served them as a mentor at her church. She and John both consider it a blessing and honor to be a part of their students’ lives as they grow as dancers and people, and she looks forward to continuing teaching her Ballet and Jazz students.
Julie Bower
Creative Dance, Pre-Ballet, and Ballet Instructor
Julie Bower is a founding member of the Adamson Ballet School faculty and the originator of the school’s Creative Dance program. Julie received her early ballet training from Vivian Kehoe Guiles in Baytown. As a teenager, Julie ran her own ballet program in Pasadena for the Parks and Recreation Department. Now, with over three decades of experience at ABS and a deep love for children, Julie’s understanding of and effectiveness with our youngest dancers is just extraordinary! Julie has always found great joy in being a child’s “first ballet teacher,” especially when that young dancer is the child of one of her former students.
Hannah Hitt
Creative Dance, Pre-Ballet, and Ballet Instructor
After training at Adamson Ballet School from ages 8 to 18, Hannah began teaching at ABS in 2011. Currently, she teaches Creative Dance through Ballet V, and has the privilege of nurturing our dancers through the major ballet milestone of going en pointe. Hannah has a genuine love for her students and enjoys sharing her passion for ballet with them, helping them learn the meaning of perseverance and taking pride in what our bodies are capable of accomplishing.
Kathryn Babin
Ballet, Jazz, and Dance Team Prep Instructor
Kathryn began dancing at Adamson Ballet School at the age of three where she continued to dance for the next sixteen years. She studied ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary and drill team prep. She danced for her high school drill team all four years and was Colonel her senior year. Kathryn attended Texas A&M and enjoyed dancing with The Texas A&M Dance Arts Society Organization and finding a passion for choreography while doing so. In 2020, Kathryn was honored to accept an offer to teach at Adamson Ballet School where she grew up, fulfilling a lifelong dream of teaching alongside her mentors, Karen and John Adamson. Kathryn’s wish is to make her students’ experiences as special and memorable as her own at Adamson Ballet School.
Julia Stanulonis
Mommy and Me Instructor & Front Office Staff
Julia began her journey at Adamson Ballet School before she even took her first steps, alongside her parents, John and Karen Adamson. Julia danced ballet and jazz at ABS starting at age 3 until Ballet VI when she decided to follow her love for Latin Ballroom dancing under the teaching of Michael and Jessica Blanco. In 2022, Julia returned to Adamson Ballet School as part of the front office staff and is now instructor of our Mommy and Me program. Julia is thrilled to share her love of dance with the next generation of dancers.
Lisa Miranda
Front Office Administrator
Lisa, a former student of Adamson Ballet School, joined the ABS team as a Front Office Administrator in 2007. Speaking both English and Spanish fluently, Lisa welcomes anyone and everyone who walks through our doors with respect, kindness and a warm smile. And the students love her for it! Lisa is usually the first smiling face students see, and the first person they run to, when they arrive at the studio for class. Personalizing every family’s experience with us continues to be one of Lisa’s many skills and passions as part of the front office staff.
